This 50-year-old Messraster photo could not be made with any other focusing device. Not even today!

Why?

Because the focus is exactly on the eyeball of the bird. But all the branches and wires around the bird would make it impossible for current auto-focusing devices to single out one single one/point/plane of them.

The Messraster remains the most versatile focusing device, even today.
